CCSI offered internships to students and recent graduates in the Seattle area in 1997. Through these internships young people learned a great deal about the variety of constructive and practical ways in which citizen organizations are helping to meet the challenge of radical institutional change in post-Soviet societies. They also developed analytical and writing skills and acquired new ones— such as how to publish on the Internet. CCSI benefitted greatly from having the interns and volunteers we did in 1997; without their help we could never have achieved as much as we did.
