CCSI recently received the first issue of "Green
Azerbaijan," a monthly bulletin which reports on the
environmental situation in Azerbaijan. The bulletin is
published by ECORES, an independent information
organization established in Baku in 1995.
ECORES collects and disseminates environment-related information, publishes maps and sets up information systems on geology and ecology, organizes conferences and seminars, promotes the use of environmentally clean technologies, and has established an environmental library in Baku. It has established relationships with the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Association of Geographers. It works with a number of international environmental NGOs, including Sacred Earth Network and ECOLOGIA in the U.S., the Socio- Economic Union in Russia, and the Environment Foundation of Turkey. Financial support for "Green Azerbaijan" was provided by ISAR.
