                2 Regional Coordinators
                          for
          Russian NGO Sector Support Program

Deadline: February 15, 1995

In September 1994 a consortium of U.S. organizations led by Save
the Children received a five-year $30 million USAID contract to
manage an NGO sector support project in Russia. Save the Children
is currently soliciting requests for applications from U.S. PVOs
(private voluntary organizations) to serve as regional
coordinators for the project.

The responsibilities of the Regional Coordinators include:

* Establishing "a multi-purpose Regional NGO Support Center to
   facilitate the building of a sustainable structure and facility
   as well as the sustainable development of a core of Russian
   NGOs;"

* Developing programs to strengthen the local NGO sector;

* Provideing training, technical assistance, and advisory
   services to local NGOs;

* Helping foster a constructive relationship between NGOs and
   local government actors;

* Helping local NGOs develop financial sustainability;

* Managing a local "micro grants" program;

* Identifying and support local NGO information sharing

Location:

Priority is given to proposals which take place outside of Moscow
and St. Petersburg. Priority sites include the regions of the Far
East, Western Siberia, Urals, Volga and the Don region.

Only applications from USAID-registered PVOs will be accepted.

The deadline for applications is February 15, 1995, 12:00 noon ET
