Subject: Counterpart in Central Asia

My apologies that I did not give more information about our organization in
explaining my request for Russian language materials regarding NGO
development.

The Counterpart Foundation is the lead organization in the Counterpart
Consortium which also includes Goodwill Industries International, the
Citizens Network for Foreign Affairs, and Aid to Artisans. The Consortium
has a grant from USAID to promote the development of local NGOs in a wide
range of sectors as service-providers and advocacy organizations in Central
Asia. Currently, we have offices in Almaty, Bishkek and Tashkent.

Counterpart carries out training on a range of topics useful for Central
Asian NGOs. We also offer small grants to them and we promote information
exchange and communications among local NGOs and with international
organizations. Because Central Asia is somewhat out of the loop on a lot of
important NGO sector developments (even within the CIS), we are always
looking for useful materials in Russian (or a Central Asian language) that
we can pass along to the groups that we work with.
