The Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC) is
looking for a:
JUNIOR FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM COORDINATOR
The Junior Fellowship Program brings young Central and Eastern European
environmentalists to the REC head office in Budapest for one month of
training workshops. Six fellows from six different countries are accepted
per session, and five sessions are held per year.
The program consists of workshops run by the coordinator, REC staff, and
external trainers. They train the fellows in campaign strategies, NGO and
project management, dealing with the media, fundraising, and understanding
the role of NGOs in civil society. Site visits to NGOs in the Region
constitute an important part of the program. The coordinator organizes the
entire program, including selecting fellows, finding workshop
facilitators, and handling all administrative issues related to the
program.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will be from Central and Eastern Europe
and will have the following qualifications:
- experience in preparing and conducting environmental training workshops
- good facilitation skills
- knowledge of needs and expectations of environmental NGOs in the Region
- planning, organizing, and project management skills
- social and cultural sensitivity
- ability to work quickly and effectively in a multicultural environment
- fluency in English (and one Central and East European language, if
possible)
- computer skills

Subject: Teaching opportunities in the NIS
This is a revised version of a message posted on 4/13/95
The American Council of Teachers of Russian/American Council for
Collaboration in Education and Language Study (ACTR/ACCELS) welcomes
applications from Teachers of American Studies, history, social studies,
government, and/or political science in this academic year long teaching
exchange program in the NIS. Participants will serve as visiting faculty to
NIS secondary schools in the area of civics education. Participants will
teach no more than three classes in the subjects listed above and may be
asked to teach U.S. culture, literature and/or English language. This
program is sponsored by the United States Information Agency, administered on
its behalf by ACTR/ACCELS and funded under the Freedom Support Act. It
covers the cost of domestic airfare to Washington, DC, international airfare
from Washington, DC, orientation, a monthly maintenance stipend ($2000 a
month) and emergency medical insurance during the exchange. Applicants must
be U.S. citizens to be considered for selection.
