     The Eurasia Foundation, a privately managed, nonprofit grantmaking
     organization funded by USAID, seeks to fill the following position.
          
     Central Asia Regional Director, based in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Serves
     as the Eurasia Foundation representative, decision maker, and
     spokesperson in the region. Previous professional, managerial and
     analytical experience in the former Soviet Union, fluency in written
     and spoken Russian, and strong computer skills required. Fluency in
     one of the Central Asian languages highly desirable.
     Salary negotiable. Must be citizen or legal resident of the US.

Subject: Seeking Intern

The Private Voluntary Organizations Initiative for the New
Independent States (PVO/NIS) Project of World Learning Inc.
seeks an intern for our Washington, DC office. We are currently
interviewing and would like to fill the position as soon as possible.

The PVO/NIS Project, with funding from the US Agency for
International Development (USAID), administers grants to
implement humanitarian and development activities that encourage
the growth of the nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and
voluntarism in the former Soviet Union. The project works closely
with American private voluntary organizations working in
partnerships with NIS NGOs in all sectors. With the first phase of
the project, the solicitation and award of grants, now complete, the
project has now moved into its second and third phases, which
combine on-going monitoring of projects, training, and drawing
upon lessons learned to inform future NIS programming.

JOB DESCRIPTION

INTERN, PVO/NIS PROJECT
Projects in International Development and Training

Reports to: Program Associate, Information Monitoring Unit,
            PVO/NIS Project
Location: Washington, DC

General Description: The intern provides administrative
support to the PVO/NIS Project.

Specific Responsibilities:

     Backstop travel logistics, including assisting project staff to
      obtain travel clearance from USAID for staff and
      subgrantee travel.

     Assist Publications' Editors with fact-checking articles and
      other research as needed for the Project's quarterly
      newsletter and other publications.

     Participate in Annual Fall Conference and assist with
      logistics, as needed.

     Assist with organizing the Project's resource and
      information center.

     Provide administrative support, including working with
      subgrant files, word processing, data entry, and other
      clerical duties as needed.

Salary and Hours:

$5 per hour for 10-12 hours per week (not to exceed 20 hours per
week).

Requirements:

Organized and detail-oriented.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Familiarity with basic office procedures (filing, answering phones).
Proficiency in Windows and in either Word for Windows 6.0
(preferred) or WordPerfect 5.1.
Ability to work with a variety of people and under deadlines.
Enthusiastic and willing to learn.

Desired, but Not Required:

Interest in NGOs, foreign assistance, international development.
Knowledge of Russian, Ukrainian, and/or other NIS language.
Additional computer skills (Excel, databases, e-mail) are a plus.
