PARTNER NEEDED FOR DOCUMENTATION/INFORMATION CENTRE ON WOMEN'S RIGHTS
*********************************************************************
Within the project "Supporting the establishment of women's legal rights
in Russia", ZhIF, Women's Innovation Foundation, Moscow and its daughter
organisation, the EDC, Electronic Documentation Center "East-West",
Moscow, in cooperation with AIDOS, Italian Association for Women in
Development, Rome, are developing a "Documentation/Information Centre on
Women's Rights".
This project is financed by the Phare and Tacis Democracy Programme, a
European Union initiative to help promote democratic societies in the
countries of central and eastern Europe, and the New Independent States
and Mongolia. This initiative is combined with a seminar on women's health
reproductive rights financed by UNFPA that is presently being organized by
EDC, AIDOS and KEGME, Mediterranean Women's Studies Center, Athens, and
will be held in March 1996. The documentation centre is collecting
national and international literature on women's basic rights which
include human, political, economic and reproductive rights. These
documents will be available for consultation and research work at EDC's
library in order to help women in Russia - to know their rights - to know
international standards - to know how to defend their rights - to know how
to extend their rights.
The EDC team is presently being trained by AIDOS, in order to develop and
maintain the documentation centre on the basis of international
bibliographic standards andto be able to offer training courses for
documentalists from other cities in Russia and information seminars. To
this extent, later, in January 1996, the EDC team will train two more
partner organisations in these skills. The three partner centers will
combine as a network of documentation centres, using the same methods and
techniques. Femina from Naberezhnye Chelny has been chosen as second
partner while the third place is still open.
In our strategy for this network, the three partners will have basic
materials in all three places, but at the same time, each should have its
"speciality". EDC will be focused on women's enterprises and female
employment, while Femina will concentrate on the issue of gender and
ethnicity. The third partner should be specialized in health issues and
reproductive rights, therefore any qualification of applicants already
existing in this area will be a preference.
We invite you to apply for this parternship, returning the attached
questionnaire. Applications should reach us not later than NOVEMBER 28TH,
1995, in order to allow us to select the organization together with the
AIDOS representative, who is presently in Moscow collaborating with us.
