Subject: Search For Local Government Partners
Background
The International Municipal Lawyers Association (IMLA) is a Washington,
DC-based organization for local government attorneys. Founded in 1935, IMLA
serves as a clearinghouse of local law information for over 1500 members in
the United States and Canada. It provides local government attorneys with
information, education and programs.
IMLA recently appointed an International Committee to pursue international
development opportunities on behalf of the organization. The Committee plans
to develop rule of law and democratic institution-building programs for local
governments
Search for Partners
The International Committee is looking for partners or sister organizations
who would be interested in working with IMLA to develop joint conferences,
seminars and exchange programs. We are currently focusing on the following
countries:
Poland
Czech Republic
Hungary
Russia
Ukraine
Does anyone know of any local government associations or local government
lawyers in those countries (or in other ECE and NIS countries) who would be
interested in working with IMLA? Please let us know.
Rick A. Baltzersen
Project Director, IMLA International Committee
