CivilSoc List Members:
I was wondering if you knew where I could get a hold of party
programs of various Russian political parties, specifically the LDPR,
the CPRF, Aleksandr Barkashov's Russian National Unity, Sergei
Baburin's All-Russian National Union, and Nikolai Lysenko's National
Republican Party of Russia (as well as any others).
In addition, I am interested in their levels of institutionalization
and degrees of inclusions within the political system.
My work also covers Romania and Ukraine. I am looking at the rise of
illiberal political parties and how they evolve as they become more
involved in the established political systems.
Romania: PUNR, Romania Mare, the Socialist Party of Labor, and
Movement for Romania
Ukraine: KUN, UNA-UNSO, Communist Party, DSU
I would appreciate any pointers.

The following interesting information was provided by Dr. Dennis
McConnell of the Eastern European Enterprise Network.
********
Have today received the newsletter from the Open Society Foundation in
Sofia. There is a group in Sofia known as the Free and Democratic Bulgaria
Foundation, which has a Civil Society Program. Here is the description of
the program:
"Civil Society Program aims at supporting the development of Bulgarian
civil society as a guarantee for the country's democratication. The
Foundation sought assistance from the European Union and several NGOs to
carry out a series of educational programs for politicians. In 1995, 30
young parliamentarians from the whole political spectrum participated in
the program. Their education was organized with the financial support of
the European Fund, the French NGO "Est Liberte" and the Free and
Democractic Bulgaria Foundation. The Foundation cooperates with Bulgarian
and European NGOs on several projects, included in the PHARE Democracy
Program."
