Subject: Economic Education Conference May 28-30
International Economic Education Conference
Funded by U.S. Department of Education,
Office of Educational Research and Improvement
Purpose
The conference will provide a showcase for the accomplishments of the
International Economic Education Exchange Program, an occasion for all
involved to share best practices, and opportunities to generate interest
among new potential partners.
Themes
The conference will feature several major economic education themes:
Training, Pedagogy, Materials and Curriculum, Evaluation, and
Infrastructure. Plenary presentations, panel discussions, and small group
sessions will address these topics.
A unifying theme will be Partnerships for Economic Education. We will
highlight the collaborative roles of private foundations, corporations,
nonprofit organizations, and government agencies, from both the U.S. and
partner nations, in stimulating economic education activities in
transition economies.
Audience
Audience and presenters will include selected faculty, exchange hosts, and
participants from the program; ministry and agency officials from the
partner countries; corporate and foundation representatives; and others.
Types of sessions
Plenaries will include prepared addresses related to the major themes, as
well as panel discussions during which representatives from several
countries will discuss issues surrounding the presentation and relate
their own insights and experiences. Small group sessions will feature
hands-on presentations about existing programs in different countries.
Russian and English will be the working languages of the conference.
An ongoing materials exhibit will give attendees the opportunity to view
print and multimedia economic education materials. Receptions, banquets,
and coffee breaks will offer occasions for informal conversations.
