The following announcement appeared recently on the RUSAG-L list,
and may be of interest to some of the U.S. members of the list.

              Center for Citizen Initiatives (CCI)
                  Management Training Programs
for Russian Farmers and Agricultural Processors
*****************************************************************

The Center for Citizen Initiatives (CCI) is seeking volunteers to
coordinate one-month management training programs in the U.S. for
visiting groups of Russian farmers and agricultural processors.

Under a grant from the U.S. Information Agency for the Productiv-
ity Enhancement Program, CCI is bringing groups of 10-15 Russian
entrepreneurs for training in the United States to learn modern
production and management techniques. The overall goal of the
program is to increase domestic production of critically-needed
goods in Russia, to achieve sustainable economic development and
political stability.

One of our focus areas is agriculture - both production and post-
production storage, processing and marketing of agricultural
goods. Russia's agriculture is currently in a crisis situation,
but the size of the domestic market offers excellent opportuni-
ties for growth and job creation in Russia.

CCI's programs depend upon in-kind donations from host communi-
ties to keep U.S.-taxpayer-supported costs to a minimum. CCI is
seeking volunteers who can identify and work closely with local
civic/service clubs (such as Rotary, Kiwanis, and Lions) to
secure volunteer home hosts and a donation of local transporta-
tion for the delegation. Close coordination is also necessary
with local extension services, who usually know the best agricul-
tural enterprises/entrepreneurs in their region to demonstrate
American know-how and to serve as models for Russian entrepre-
neurs.
