The Moscow office of the non-profit
organization, The American Council of
Teachers of Russian announces a position
opening for the

Edmund S. Muskie/ FSA Graduate Fellowship
Programs and RSEP/ CIP
ALUMNI COORDINATOR/ PROGRAM ASSISTANT

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position will be Moscow-based, with
occasional travel to various countries of
the NIS. A citizen of the NIS is sought
to fill the position.

Primary responsibilities will include:

- further development and maintaining of
alumni network, follow-on activities and
newsletter (in English). The alumni are
former participants of several US-
government sponsored graduate fellowship
programs who have completed short- or
long-term studies in the US.

Specific duties will include:

- Maintaining and updating alumni
databases throughout NIS;
- Compiling, editing and distributing
alumni newsletters for Muskie/ FSA and
RSEP/CIP programs;
- Collecting information and data for the
newsletter and database; soliciting
essays/ materials from alumni;
- Compiling, distributing and collecting
questionnaires and surveys from alumni;
- Organizing and administering follow-on
activities (conferences, workshops, social
gatherings);
- Co-ordinating NIS-wide alumni program
with ACTR/ ACCELS and program
representatives and USIS posts throughout
the NIS;
- Working closely with ACTR/ACCELS
computer experts in the development and
maintaining of respective program alumni e-
mail "conferences", "newsgroups" and WWW
pages.
- On a need basis: aiding program
coordinators in carrying out recruitment,
testing, interviewing, notification, and
pre-program activities for departing
Fellows.

Candidates for the position should display
the following skills:

- Excellent oral and written English
skills (analogous to a TOEFL score of 600
or higher).
- Ability to develop working
relationships with individuals and
organizations in varied professional and
academic spheres.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Creativity and ability to work both
independently and co-operatively.
- Familiarity with databases, word-
processing and electronic communication.
