Teaching Opportunity - Osh Business School, Kyrgyzstan
*****************************************************************
I have received information about the Osh Business School from a
colleague who recently returned from a teaching visit to Kyrgyz-
stan. He reports that the Osh Business School will commence
operations this fall, and would like to employ a couple of gradu-
ate students to teach Introduction to Business for 10-12 weeks. I
have attached below the Osh Business School profile he provided.
Perhaps members of the list know of candidates who might be
interested in a teaching opportunity that my colleague character-
izes as an "enjoyable, interesting, but low-paid three months at
the foot of the Tien Shan." Candidates are expected to pay their
own way to Osh, but the teaching experience certainly presents an
opportunity to add an unusual feature to a CV.
If you know of any interested candidates, please have them con-
tact me. I have provided my contact numbers below.
*****************************************************************
The Osh Business School is part of Osh State University (and is
located in the University buildings downtown Osh - the second
largest city in Kyrgyzstan, with a population of 200,000). As
part of the transition to a market-oriented economy, the Univers-
ity organized the Osh Business school to assist local businesses
in business development. They have also taught Osh students some
elements of western business practices.
The Osh Business School is now organizing a business faculty
which will teach business subjects in English, as well as some
standard courses in Russian (for example, mathematics, English
language and literature) to a freshman class of students who are
aware they will be a dedicated (unique) specialized group. The
Business School is seeking at least two American graduate stud-
ents to teach western business (Marketing, International Busi-
ness, Management) in the first year, to help establish the
school.
