CBSD is a training organization established by the Telecommunication
Development Corporation (TDC), the Russian subsidiary of U.S.
telecommuications giant US West, through a grant from the United States
Agency for International Development (USAID). CBSD has developed training
courses through the efforts of Western and Russian course developers, with
the training aimed at upgrading and improving the performance of client
companies. CBSD has established contacts with numerous large multinationals
and Russian companies in its commitment to provide high quality training to
employees at all levels within an organization. Licensed courses include
customer focus, personal effectiveness, marketing, project leadership and
business planning.

WID is a center for the study of public policy on disability and
independent living. WID has been working in Russia for three years with its
partner, All Russian Society of the Disabled (ARSD). The ARSD, a national
disability organization, has 2.2 million members affiliated through 78
regional ARSD offices, 4,429 district offices, and 19,000 local member
organizations. The organization owns approximately 1,500 businesses,
employing over 56,000 people, more than 50% of whom are disabled. The
businesses serve two main purposes: Providing funding for ARSD to carry out
its activities; and employment opportunities for the disabled. In 1994, WID
was awarded a grant by World Learning to provide assistance to ARSD
businesses.

ABC St.Petersburg assists American Companies and their representatives in
conducting business more effectively. The ABC is managed by the U.S.
Department of Commerce U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service (FCS) whose
offices in St Petersburg are located in the same building.

BISTA was established at the Russian Market Research Institute (VNIKI) in
1995 under an agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations
of the Russian Federation and the United States Department of Commerce.
BISTA aims are to broaden the exchange of information on market
opportunities between potential Russian and American business partners and
to help them to establish direct business relations. BISTA offers customers
a wide range of information, counseling and representational services for
accomplishing business goals. Services include: Russian contact services;
Russian sales channel information; market contact surveys; market prospects
negotiations; Russian enterprise checks; initial contract representation;
Moscow business service center; market research services; and publications.
