John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation

The Foundation's Program on Peace and International Cooperation
announces an annual competition for grants for Research and
Writing. Grants are available for projects in any discipline or
profession that promise to illuminate the dynamics of interna-
tional security or multilateral cooperation.
Applicants may request up to $75,000 for individual projects, or
$100,000 for two-person collaborations. Projects related to the
research or writing of the doctoral dissertation are not eligi-
ble.
Awards will be announced in September 1997. Projects may be
scheduled to begin as early as October 1, 1997.
