An Austrian NGO specialising in water resources management is looking for
a female consultant to work in Albania. The project is sponsored by the
World Bank Group and aims to rehabilitate and restructure the irrigation
and drainage sector.
Since the importance of women's role in achieving the project objectives
has been recognised, the project comprises a WID (women in development)
component with the overall objective of improving the participation of
women through, among other things,
- ensuring that women also benefit from the Irrigation Rehabilitation
project and to address the possible effects of the project on them;
- increasing the agricultural production by improving women's potentials
and skills etc.
The WID consultant's work will have various components, such as:
- general gender awareness training
- pilot intervention in selected water user associations at different
levels and others.
Staff input and timing:
A total of 10 months, to start as soon as possible
Qualifications and experience required:
The WID consultant must have a first degree and a Master or Doctorate,
both in relevant fields such as agricutlure, agricultural economics or
rural soicology.
At least 10 years' professional experience in relevant fields.
In addition, the consultant must also have experience in the following:
- women in development and gender issues
- training and setting up training programmes
- Project implementation experience working with WID programmes
- participation in agricultural or rural development projects.
