Women's Human Rights Resources
(prepared by the Bora Laskin Law Library,
University of Toronto, Canada):
http://www.law-lib.utoronto.ca/diana
The Women's Human Rights Resources site is a three-part tool to help
researchers, students, teachers and human rights advocates search the
internet for authoritative research on women's international human rights.
It consists of:
1. an annotated listing of sites that are excellent starting points for
legal research on women's human rights,
2. annotated links to documents (such as conventions, reports,
bibliographies and articles) relating to the human rights of women. All of
these documents are in full text; and
3. A Select Bibliography of Women's Human Rights, compiled by Professor
Rebecca Cook of the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and Valerie
Oosterveld. Originally published in the American University Law Review,
this bibliography has been updated and annotated. It contains an extensive
listing of international women's human rights print resources.
Topics that are included are: general human rights issues; education;
female genital mutilation; U.N. Fourth World Conference on Women; marriage
and family; political rights and participation; property and housing
issues; refugees; reproductive freedom and family planning; rights of
girls; the right to health care; labour and employment rights; sexual
orientation; slavery, trafficking and prostitution; and violence against
women.
The site is maintained and updated regularly, and is part of the DIANA
international human rights database.
