Internship Opportunity --- ISAR-Washington, DC
Publications Program
ISAR is a non-profit organization that supports the growth of the non-governmental sector in the countries of the former Soviet Union. With field offices throughout the FSU and a national office in Washington, DC, our mission is to empower grassroots activists to address local social, political, and environmental challenges by providing them with grants, training, and other forms of technical assistance.
ISAR publishes a quarterly journal, SURVIVING TOGETHER, which tells the story of grassroots activists in the former Soviet Union. The publication intern helps with background research, developing themes, contacting potential authors, and translation. There is the possibility for writing and editing, depending on experience. The intern also works on marketing the journal, and may perform other public relations functions.
In addition, the intern will provide administrative support under the supervision of the Office Manager.
This is an ideal opportunity for a student or recent college graduate seeking to learn about grassroots movements in the former Soviet Union, make contacts in the field, practice his/her Russian language and gain experience working on a publication.
