JOB OPPORTUNITY- Computer Trainer for Kazakstan & Kyrgyzstan Project
We are looking for a computer trainer to travel for us to Kazakstan and
Kyrgyzstan in late October/November of 1997. The trainer will train young
university scholars in the use of the Internet. The training is also
intended to provide Central Asian scholars with knowledge of the wide range
of resources available for social scientists through the Internet. This
Internet training program is part of a larger curriculum development
project coordinated by the Transregional Center for Democratic Studies at
the New School for Social Research. Its focus is mainly on encouraging the
development of political science and sociology at select universities in
Central Asia.
Qualifications:
-Proven knowledge of social science (especially political science and
sociology) resources available through the Internet.
-A university or library background preferable
-Experience training/teaching students or scholars in the use of WWW
browsers ad protocols - particularly FTP, Gopher, and Netscape
-In-depth knowledge of Internet providers, especially in the Central Asian
region
-Fluent in Russian
-Experience traveling
-Preferably a resident of New York City or currently living in the
tri-state area
