I represent the Vologda State Historical-Architectural and Arts Museum
Preserve.
The Vologda region lies in the North-West of Russia and connects central
Russia with The Urals region and Siberia by transport ways. It occupies
approximately the same territory as Iraq or Belgium, Denmark, the
Netherlands and Switzerland, taken together.
This year Vologda celebrated its 850th annivesary, but the first heathen
settlements here, at this ancient Russian North expanse, are much older.
In fact, Russian tsar Ivan the Terrible was going to make Vologda the
capital of his state in the 16th century. The whole history of Russia
could have gone a different way...
Our region is famous for the number and significance of its historical and
cultural monuments: the Vologda Kremlin, The House-Museum of Peter the
Great, and The Spaso-Prilutsk, Cyril-Belozersk, St. Ferapont, St.Michael
and Archangel monasteries. The Dionisius frescos in the Navity of the
Virgin Cathedral of St. Ferapont monastery are a real treasure among the
monumental fine art works.
The Museum possesses more than 400,000 exhibits. A lot of them are unique
even within Russia. This is a great data bank of historical,
archaeological, ethnographic and other information on the whole Vologda
region, which consists of 26 districts. The museum also has its branches
here.

So, we want to share our knowledge, our tangible historical and cultural
potential with everybody who will appreciate it. We can involve our best
local scholars, authorities and masters of artistic handicraft industries
for individual contacts with those who need to go to the root of the matter.
If you need to teach big groups of students, we can organize a
visit of our specialists to lecture in the States. We are flexible and we
are ready to meet the customer's desire.
For 5 years we have been cooperating with one of the tourist agencies of
Vologda. They can provide lodging, transportation, entertainment, security
and other services through Vologda and other Russian regions for groups of
visitors from the States.
