The Human Rights Information Centre, spcialised in the
legal aspects of human rights, is an essential support
service for internal users and a valuable asset for
research.
As Deputy Librarian, you will assist with day to day
management of the Human Rights Library, catalogue and
index in French and English works in a variety of
European languages notably those of Central and Eastern
Europe, provide search support for clients, use online
and CD-ROM legal sources, etc.
Aged under 35 (exceptions possible under certain
circumstances), you are a qualified librarian or
information scientist with sound professional
experience, which should, ideally, have been acquired
in the human rights field and may, in certain cases,
replace formal training. You have very good knowledge
of one of the two Council of Europe official languages
(English/Frech); knowledge of the other official
language would be an advantage. Knowledge of at least
one Central or East European language is also required.
You must be a teamworker with good communication skills
and thoroughly familiar with information technology in
this field.
