"Gender Monitor" from Ukraine
Sheila Scott, coordinator of the NIS/US Women's Consortium
recently posted to the women-east-west list a sample issue of
"Gender Monitor," a new publication from the Ukrainian Center for
Independent Political Research. CCSI has taken the liberty of
uploading the sample issue to our Web site (it's the File of the
Week) at:
http://www.friends-partners.org/~ccsi/
In the issue CCSI received "Gender Monitor" monitored 15
Ukrainian newspapers in the month of September and found 20
references to women's issues in the context of political, economic
and social problems. Some of the reviews are three or four
sentences long and provide a very good sense of the article, while
others just mention the article title and the newspaper. Overall
the sample issue we received provided an interesting glimpse of
the issues and problems women face in Ukraine today.
"Gender Monitor" is available electronically in both English and
Ukrainian. The Center also publishes the "Gender Herald." If you
would to subscribe, please write directly to Konstantin
