Two Jobs with Street Law, Inc.
for Eastern Europe and NIS Program
Street Law, Inc., a well-established non-profit organization
dedicated to educating the world about law, democracy and human
rights, has many law-related education programs in the U.S. and
abroad that draw real-world connections between the lives of
people and the law, human rights and democratic values.
Our international programs are dedicated to providing technical
assistance to local NGOs and government agencies around the world
that are working on legal, democracy and human rights education
initiatives in their countries. In each international project,
Street Law, Inc. forms partnerships with local players to design
programs, curricula and training that meets the country's needs.
Program Director
The program director will work full-time on a regional Street Law
project in Eastern/Central Europe and NIS, including:
coordinating, designing, planning, implementing the regional
program and providing training in civics, democracy, human rights
and law-related education.
Responsibilities:
* Coordinate and administer an international education program
for Eastern/Central Europe and NIS;
* Assist in the design and implementation of programs;
* Provide on-site visitation, training and technical assistance
in curriculum and program development;
* Provide training and technical assistance for regional
visitors to the U.S.;
* Attend and organize workshops/conferences abroad and in the
U.S.;
* Research, identify and pursue development opportunities for
the extension of programs in the region;
* Write articles and reports as necessary;
* Day-to-day project management and administration;
* Conduct meetings and trainings with international visitors
and potential partners from the region; and
Requirements:
Good interpersonal, writing, training and organizational skills;
Background in education, law, international development and/or
non-profit; Russian language and experience working in region
preferred.
Salary: $35,000-40,000 per year, depending on experience, plus
benefits
Administrative Assistant
The Administrative Assistant will work full-time on providing
support to Street Law, Inc.'s international educational programs
and services in Eastern/Central Europe and NIS.
Administrative Responsibilities: General organizational work,
including: scheduling and logistical support; developing and
maintaining database and mailing lists; faxing; photocopying;
phone calls; drafting and typing letters; responding to requests
and information; e-mail; and other tasks as required.
Program Responsibilities: General program assistance, including:
gathering and disseminating information on international programs
in Eastern/Central Europe and the NIS; identifying important
contacts and organizations relevant to programs; researching
specific inquiries or issues; drafting reports, program updates;
and other tasks as required.
Requirements: Computer proficiency; Internet research skills;
good communication skills, including well-developed writing and
telephone skills; the ability to see what needs to be done and do
it. Should be comfortable working with diverse groups of people,
and have interest in international issues, especially in relation
to the law, democracy and human rights. Russian language, sense
of humor desirable.
Salary $23-25,000/year plus benefits.
