PROGRAM OVERVIEW IN VERMONT

The Community Connections Program is a professional development program
funded by the Office of Citizen Exchanges of the United States Information
Agency for Russian, Ukrainian, Moldovan and Georgian government officials,
professionals and business people.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Project Harmony is looking for a program assistant to help in the
coordination of three professional development programs for Georgian and
Moldovan business, agriculture, government officials and NGO people. The
position is open immediately until August 31, 1998. The program location
is Central Vermont. The responsibilities of the program assistant is the
following:

- work with program coordinator to advertise and promote the program
- work with program coordinator to network with community groups,
government offices and different business and social organizations
- recruit host families
- recruit host business placements
- work with program coordinator to organize program activities and meetings
-monitor the program for participants, host families and host businesses
- work with program coordinator to manage the finances of the programs
- work with program coordinator to maintain a database for the programs
- manage daily information flow through telephone, fax, letters and e-mail
- work with program coordinator to write any evaluation reports for the program

The skills required to be a program assistant:

- able to work under pressure and able to deal with difficult situations
- strong organizational and administrative skills
- able to work independently and as a team
- good telephone and communications skills
- word processing and computer skills
- cultural sensitivity and tolerance
- able and interested in working and interacting with groups and
individuals despite language barrier
- able to lead demanding work schedule during program planning and management
- Russian language fluency desired but not essential

Benefits:

- health insurance ( co-payment of $13 per month)
- salary ($16,000) paid on two-week basis
