The Nonprofit Sector Research Fund seeks to expand understanding of
nonprofit
activities through the support of high-quality research undertaken by
scholars
and practitioners. The Fund provides two types of grant awards:
 
 (1) Grants of up to $50,000 to support research by any eligible
applicant;

 (2) Grants of up to $20,000 to support graduate students engaged in
doctoral dissertation research.

 
In exceptional cases, the Fund may award a grant larger than $50,000.
 
PRIORITY AREAS: Grants will be made in the following priority areas:
 
  * The Role of Nonprofits and Philanthropy in Society;
  * Public Policy: Its Impacts on Nonprofits and the People They
        Serve
  * Nonprofit Accountability, Governance and Management
 
Outstanding applications outside of the above priority areas will be
considered as General Interest Proposals.
 
DEADLINE: Proposals must be postmarked by March 2, 1998.
