CCSI received the following conference announcement February 24, 1998 from
Sergey Shurinov, Director of Crimean Laboratory of Regional Researches in
Simferopol, Ukraine.

Youth Initiatives on the Boundary of Centuries:
Traditional Values. Legal State. Civil Society

           May, 4 - 10, 1998
        Alushta, Crimea, Ukraine

Crimean Laboratory of Regional Researches
Crimean Branch of Ukrainian Society of Conflictologists

   During the work of the seminar following problems
are planned to be discussed:

* value orientations of youth in the conditions of
transformation in the society;

* formation of the youth subculture in post-
communist countries;

* Euroregional problems of youth;

* youth and state: social guarantees, civil position,
legal conscience;

* conflict potential of youth and transformation
process: constructive and destructive aspects;

* youth and religion: interconfessional
communications within polyethnic society;

* youth politics: problems and perspectives;

* the problem of leadership among the youth: world
experience and national traditions;

* defiant behavior of the young;

* youth in science and creation: a step towards the
21st century

* youth and environment: formation of
environmental values;

   The participants will be offered excursions to the
most famous historical places of Crimea: Sevastopol,
the city where the main base of the Black Sea Fleet is
located, Livadia Palace ( the place of the <Big
Triumvirate>- Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchill -
Summit in 1945), Vorontsov Palace in Alupka,
Alexander III Palace in Massandra.

   Official languages of the seminar:
English, Russian, Ukrainian.

   Registration fee will make 50 USD, accomodation
costs 40 - 100 USD (according to the class of a hotel).
Registration fee must be paid upon arrival.

   To participate in the seminar you should send the
filled registration form and a typed 1-page summary of
your paper (2 copies) before April, 1, 1998, to the
science chair of the seminar - Dr. Tatiana
Senyushkina.
