"Russian Conservation News" (RCN) is a quarterly magazine dedicated to
informing Western readers about biodiversity conservation in countries
of the former Soviet Union. It is published jointly by the Center for
Russian Nature Conservation/Tides Center and the Pocono Environmental
Center with funding from the Weeden, Turner, and Furthermore
Foundations and many individual donors.
RCN features articles by leading conservation biologists,
policymakers, and environmentalists in the former Soviet Union. The
primary topics covered are:
- Protected areas, national and regional parks, and nature reserves
- Conservation legislation and management
- Urgent environmental issues in countries of the former Soviet Union
- Organizations working to address problems in the areas of
conservation and environmental preservation
- Conservation finance and funding priorities
- Endangered species and ecosystems
- Information resources on environmental, conservation, and
biodiversity issues
- Upcoming environmental events
- Contact lists of individuals and organizations working in pertinent
fields
Subscriptions to Russian Conservation News are available at the
following rates:
Student - US$10 per year
Individual - US$15 per year
Organization - US$25 per year
Supporter - US$50 per year
Patron - US$100 per year
Sponsor - US$500 per year
Back issues are available for US$5 each.
Canadian subscribers should add US$6 to these amounts, and all other
subscribers outside of the United States should add US$15 to cover
additional shipping costs. Payments should be made by check or money
