The United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) is working for
women's economic and political empowerment of women in developing
countries. UNIFEM has helped tens of thousands of women in more than 100
nations in Africa, Latin America, Caribbean, Asia and the Pacific to
improve the quality of life for themselves and their families by
strengthening women's organizations and their capacity to advocate women's
issues, supporting innovative programmes and projects benefiting women,
leveraging funds and support for innovative strategies dealing with
critical issues affecting women, acting as a catalyst within the UN system,
and documenting and disseminating best practices and lessons learned.
UNIFEM had recently expanded its scope of action into Central and Eastern
Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CEE/CIS). The Fund is
currently putting together a roster of consultants for future UNIFEM's
projects in the region. In this connection, we would appreciate receiving
the Curriculum vitae in English of candidates with the appropriate profile
by telefax, email or regular mail. Candidates should have an experience in
gender & development in the CEE/CIS, in the areas of political empowerment
(specifically Gender & Governance, Women's Human Rights, and Peace-Building
& Conflict Resolution), and economic empowerment (focus on Globalization &
Economic Restructuring and Sustainable Livelihoods).
Please send the Curriculum vitae to the following address:
