Vladivostok Hospis seeks support for an Information Center
Vladivostok Hospis seeks support for an Information Center for people with
cancer and their families in Primorsky Kray. The Center will provide
assistance, support, training for social workers and volunteers in five
cities. The center will also bring together representatives of Regional
Administrations, local NGOs providing disabled people with consulting
services and assistance, charitable organizations, and mass media in an
effort to facilitate dialog and collaboration concerning assistance the
stated group.
The project activities are as follows:
* Free consultations on social rehabilitation and the rights of handicapped
people with cancer and their families. The Center will provide them with
free information on their rights as well as assist in social rehabilitation
for those returning to active life. Consultations will be by qualified
specialists at the center.
* Operate a counseling hot-line five days a week. The hot-line will
provide information about Vladivostok organizations rendering medical,
psychological assistance and legal advice for people with cancer and their
families.
* Publication and distribution of three informational bulletins outlining
the rights and benefits of people with cancer, examples of legal
application, and contact information and activities of organizations
providing this group with consultations and assistance.
* Four training seminars in Vladivostok, Arseniev, Kovalerovo, Nakhodka and
Ussuryisk for patients with cancer, their families, social workers, NGOs
working in the area, and volunteers.
* Workshop for 15 representatives of the Departments of Social Affairs
(Vladivostok City and Primorsky Kray Administrations), local mass media,
charitable organizations, and associations of disabled people to discuss
collaboration of efforts aimed at assisting the stated group.
The funds are requested for project staff salaries, rent, telephone, email,
and Internet access, publishing expenses, office equipment purchase, and
travel expenses.
The project covers Primorsky Kray.
The project duration is 12 months.
