              Administrative and Financial Assistant
           Women�s Rights During Privatization Project

Project Description

The success of privatization programs throughout the ECE and the NIS is
being jeopardized unnecessarily by employers� failure to utilize existing
human resources and by the states� failure to engage citizens in the
privatization process. To influence these trends, Women, Law, and
Development International is conducting a project, funded by USAID, to
enhance the competitiveness of the privatizing economies of Poland,
Russia, Ukraine, and Bulgaria by encouraging the full participation of
women in their national economies. The project is a five-year research
and advocacy effort, with the first year being the research component.

Summary

The Administrative and Financial Assistant will provide all necessary
support for the Project and Research Directors in Washington; four field
project directors in Bulgaria, Ukraine, Russia, and Poland; and the
Accounting Staff.

Specific Duties

* Assist in Program Development, including mobilizing funds for project
  continuance;
* Manage all incoming correspondence, including mail, phone inquiries and
  email;
* Coordinate all reporting to U.S. Agency for International Development
  (USAID);
* Make all travel arrangements for US and field staff as appropriate,
  complying with USAID guidelines;
* Coordinate all logistics for periodic international meetings;
* Respond to requests for information and other inquiries from USAID and
  the general public;
* Other administrative tasks as necessary.

Qualifications

BA or MA in related field, such as international relations, economics, or
a social science; background and demonstrated interest in international
women�s issues in the ECE/CIS region; knowledge of Windows 95 and a high
level of computer comfort; strong communication and organizational skills;
flexibility and willingness to be a team player in a small office setting.
The ideal candidate will have language ability and field experience in the
region. WLD International seeks to fill this position as soon as
possible.
