Heartland International is seeking a program officer for its Community
Connections Program.
Heartland International, a women-managed, nonprofit organization, based in
Chicago, Illinois, designs, implements and manages international
educational training programs focusing on democracy and governance.
Responsibilities include:
* Managing three training programs for nongovernmental organization
leaders from Russia and Belarus; and two training programs for
entrepreneurs from Russia.
* Identifying and matching program participants with local businesses for
short term business placements.
* Advertising the Community Connections Program to the Chicago-area
community in order to identify volunteer home stay hosts.
* Organizing cultural events.
* Preparing program materials.
The ideal candidate will possess:
* A great sense of humor and much common sense
* An understanding of the political, economic and social climate in Russia
and Belarus
* Attention to detail and a high standard of excellence
* A willingness to work as a team
* Excellent communications skills, both oral and written
