                        Association "antiHIV"

Association "antiHIV" was founded in September 1997 to provide individuals
and organizations in Moldova with the tools they need to fight HIV/AIDS and
Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) and human rights violations in the
health system. The activities of Association "antiHIV" can be broken down
into three stages: the collection of information (through original research
and from secondary sources), the processing of this information (through
translations and placement in the library system), and through the
distribution of information to individuals and organizations.

Association "antiHIV" collects information from international sources on a
wide range of HIV/AIDS related topics including:

   * Issues concerning human rights in the health care system
   * HIV/AIDS treatment issues, the latest drugs or other treatment methods
     that are available
   * Information for health professionals on topics such as counseling and
     communication
   * Social issues related to HIV/AIDS
   * Issues concerning organizational development and management
   * International organizations working in the field of HIV/AIDS and Human
     Rights

The current project of Association "antiHIV" is to establish an "Infoshare
Centre" with the following objectives:

   * Raise awareness among the general population of medical issues
especially in the field of sanogenesis and prevention of disease (such
as AIDS, STD and narcomany) by means of competent and correct
     information.

   * Establish a library and database of the best teaching practices with
regard to HIV/AIDS infection and prevention.

   * Create an information sharing network among specialists from medical
and educational institutions and NGOs which work on these issues.

   * Develop health education curriculum and strategies for schools.

   * Conduct periodic sociological studies to assess public understanding
     of health issues.

   * Publish a monthly bulletin which would report on "best practicies" in
     health education.
