Field Internship
Central Asian Region (CAR)
Counterpart International is looking for an intern to work on its NGO
(Non-Governmental Organization) Support Initiative in Central Asia. The
position is in Central Asia and requires a one-year commitment. DUTIES:
backstopping Central Asian NGO support programs, assistance with proposal
writing/budgeting, providing general office support and administrative
assistance, and writing reports. REQUIRES: proficiency in Russian and/or
one of the languages of Central Asia, willingness to perform administrative
work, completion of undergraduate degree, an interest in international
development and in the former Soviet Union, strong computer skills,
excellent writing skills, the ability to juggle many tasks while maintaining
good humor. PREFERS: extensive knowledge about (or have visited) the former
Soviet Union or Central Asia and experience working in a non-profit.
Chief of Party (COP)
Counterpart International is looking for a Chief of Party. DUTIES: the COP
will have primary responsibility for implementation, coordination and
supervision of all program components including training, technical and
financial assistance; supervision of consultants, local and expat staff;
close cooperation with USAID and international and local PVOs; and
preparation of workplans, assessments, evaluations and program reports.
REQUIRES: 7-10 years of program management experience; excellent
communication and organizational skills; proven leadership skills;
experience working on USAID-funded projects; and cultural sensitivity and
ability to work well as member of team. PREFERS: Mongolia experience.
Field Director
Tajikistan
Counterpart/Deutschland (CPD) is looking for a field director for its
DASTGIRIE (Helping Hand) project in Tajikistan. DASTGIRIE is a one-year
collaborative project between CPD and their local partner to provide
information, training, consultations and technical support to the NGOs of
Tajikistan, expanding the current menu of NGO services of FSCI. The field
director will be based Dushanbe, Tajikistan and will travel extensively
throughout the country. DUTIES: managing the country office, budget, and
staff; managing all NGO support services including training, partnership
development, and information services; representing CPD and acting as a
liaison between CPD and EU-TACIS, host governments, and other local and
international NGOs; planning program development and reporting program
activities; identifying Tajik NGOs to partner European NGOs. REQUIREMENTS:
three years management experience, including CIS program management
experience; training experience, including training of trainers experience;
significant experience with NGOs and NGO capacity-building; strong
organizational and interpersonal skills; strong writing skills; proficiency
in English as well as Russian, Tajik, or Farsi; must have EU citizenship.
PREFERS: familiarity with EU-TACIS policies and regulations, experience in
government relations, strong accounting/budgeting skills, familiarity with
newsletter publishing/editing.
