Subject: Civil Society in Poland
I am a graduate student of Political Science at the Free University
Berlin, Germany. I am concentrating on the transformation processes in
Central-Eastern Europe and the NIS. Currently I am working on a
treatise about the reasons for the still relatively weak civil society in
Poland.
I want to study the situation of Youth and Students, that is, the
youngest/future generation of actors of civil society.
I am writing to ask members of the CivilSoc list for any assistance
they can provide.
Specifically, I am in the need of information about:
- the participation of young people/students in NGOs, free media, social
movements
- their voting behaviour
- their economic situation (Youth-unemployment, their role in the shadow
economy)
- their democracy-comprehension.
I would be very happy if any list member could either provide me with any
relevant material, or give recommendations as to whom I could send my
