Subject: Democracy and the Net: Cambridge Ph.D. online
Professor Geoffrey Scott Aikens of Cambridge University has asked CCSI to
post the announcement that he has put his Ph.D. dissertation on the Web.
You can find
"American Democracy and Computer Mediated Communication--A Case Study
in Minnesota"
[Formal citations: Aikens, Geoffrey Scott. American Democracy
and Computer-Mediated Communication: A Case Study in Minnesota.
Ph.D. Cambridge University. April 1997.]
The thesis was written between 1993 to 1996 and according to its author,
the "fruit of the labour has been reinvested in numerous online projects
including Minnesota E-Democracy (http://e-democracy.org), Nexus
(http://www.netnexus.org) and UK Citizens Online Democracy
(http://www.democracy.org.uk). I am particularly proud of the success of
Minnesota E-Democracy, which I nurtured full-time for three years while
writing up the Ph.D."
