ISAR: Initiative for Social Action and Renewal in Eurasia is a nonprofit
organization that promotes citizen participation and the growth of the
nongovernmental sector in the countries of the former Soviet Union (FSU).
Our offices in the US and Eurasia support citizen activities and
grassroots organizations in their efforts to create just and sustainable
societies. Additionally, we work to facilitate partnerships between and
among NGOs in the FSU and the US, and to educate the public in the US and
Eurasia about the unique role that grassroots organizations play in
shaping a positive transformation in the countries of the former Soviet
Union.

ISAR's Washington, DC office is seeking a part time intern to handle
administrative tasks to help our small office function smoothly.
Responsibilities would include answering phones, maintaining library,
opening mail and helping organize office events. In addition, the intern
will have the opportunity to work with ISAR's international programs,
publications and membership program. This is an ideal opportunity for a
recent college graduate who has strong interpersonal and organizational
skills as well as an interest in the FSU and grassroots social change.

Qualities Desired:

--interest in the former Soviet Union and NGOs
--familiarity with Macintosh computers and applications
--administrative experience
--experience using databases
--knowledge of the Russian language
--enthusiasm, desire to learn, ability to relate comfortably with staff and public

Hours:

15-20 hours a week, with flexible scheduling

Terms:

Unpaid with reimbursement for local travel
