Earth Island Institute's Brower Legacy Leaders Program (BLLP) is a paid
internship opportunity for people entering the environmental field. The
goals of the Brower Legacy Leaders Program are to train activists for
careers in environmental advocacy and develop leadership skills, to assist
EII projects with their staffing needs, and to prepare interns to assist
the broader Bay Area community and national environmental movement. The
program gives interns a chance to gain training and experience with
environmental advocacy by working directly with a variety of Earth Island
Institute (EII) projects.

In mid-September, BLLP trained and placed four interns with Earth
Island Institute projects. They will assist with fundraising, special
events, publications and foreign language translations during their
three-month internships. Interns receive up to $1,000 a month in
compensation; BLLP also offers two unpaid academic internships per cycle.

The Brower Legacy Leaders Program is currently recruiting candidates for
Winter 1999 internships, running January 11-April 2; the application
deadline is November 23. Copies of application materials are available by
request and on the Earth Island Institute website at
