USIA announces the 1999 NIS College and University Partnerships Program
(NISCUPP)

US Institutions of higher education are invited to submit proposals for
support of partnership activities with an institution (or institutions)
of higher learning from the New Independent States (Russia, Ukraine,
Belarus, Moldova, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakstan, Tajikistan,
Kyrgyzstan, Uzebekistan, and Turkmenistan). Grants of up to $300,000
will be awarded to US colleges or universities in order to support
institutional linkages including faculty exchange and curriculum
development.

Eligible disciplines include:

(1) law;

(2) business/economics/trade;

(3) education/continuing education/civic education/educational reform;

(4) government/public policy/public administration/urban and regional
economic development; and

(5) journalism/communications.
