SECOND ANNIVERSIRY OF LPW-KYIV
Dear ladies and gentlemen!
We are glad to inform you that the LEAGUE of PROFESSIONAL WOMEN
celebrates its second anniversary! In August 1997 for the first time in
Ukraine the non-government organization for women developing their
professional career was registered.
The GOAL of the League is to protect the labor rights and to assist
professional career of women in business, science and education, public
administration and mass media.
Our members are women working in Kyiv who are interested in developing
their own career in the following four spheres. Citizenship is not
important. The Consulting Group was created at the League, which has
united women and men holding high official and professional positions in
public administration, mass media, business and education.
THE PARTNERS of the League are: the Institute of Philosophy at the
National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and also such foreign
international organizations, as USIS, Business Incubators Development
Program in Ukraine, IR��, �I��, ACCELS, the Project Harmony, Women's
Consortium of NIS-USA etc.
THE SERVICES for the members of the League include 4
information-analytical directions and an consulting one:
- The information bulletin The Current news of the League;
- The newsletter Improvement of professional skills - a brief
information about grant projects, training, educational programs,
conferences;
- Search of the Application forms for training abroad, scientific
research, educational programs, training, etc.;
-The newsletter on the extended loans in support of small and
middle-size business;
- Individual consulting on Preparation of the individual projects,
Career development, Business planning (together with . I. D.),
Anti-sexist perception of business women.
Among the RESULTS of our activity we shall name the following:
- In June 1999 the League joined the CENTRAL EUROPEAN ACADEMY FOR BUSINESS
W���N as a co-founder alongside with non-government
organizations of Poland, Slovakia, Croatia and Hungary. The goal of
���W is to promote information exchange and establishment of contacts
between businesswomen in Central Europe.
- 7 members have won international individual grants with the
information and advisory support of the League.
- The book written by the Leading Advisor of the Consulting Group of the
League, Professor Elena V. Lazorenko Power in Ukraine. Non trivial
political analysis for those who are in power and those who want to be
in power. Was published in 1999.
- Holding training workshops on Development of communication skills
with women in business (together with B. I. D.)
- Realization of the project on preparation of the book Successful
Personal Statement Writing together with USIS, IREX, ACCELS, Project
Harmony
The PROSPECTS of the League-s development are connected, first of all,
with the creation on the basis of our Consulting Group of the
Ukrainian-Polish Think-tank. The task of it is the development of
methods of the analysis of a modern economic and political situation in
Ukraine. Secondly, with the development of contacts with the countries
of Central Europe to search the potential partners for realization of
the programs of the League. Thirdly, the introduction of additional
protection of the labor rights through realization of the specific
social projects.
We welcome new proposals on cooperation as well as different forms of
support!
