ABOUT IREX: IREX is a US-based nonprofit organization committed to
international education in its broadest sense. IREX's efforts encompass
academic research, professional training, institution building, technical
assistance, and policy programs between the United States and the countries
of Eastern Europe, the New Independent States, Asia, and the Near East.
SUMMARY OF POSITION: IREX seeks a Junior Program Officer for the Community
Connections Russia Program (CCR), based in the Moscow, Russia office. CCR
is a program that brings mid-career professionals to the US for short-term
internships and seminars at organizations and businesses appropriate to
their interest.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
� Represent IREX and the CCR programs (business and professional)
effectively at conferences and official meetings;
� Telephone program participants to notify them of their US placements
and departure dates, in coordination with Program Officer and Program
Assistant;
� Enter participant data into the database for the Business for Russia
and Community Connections Professional Programs;
� Conduct preliminary pre-departure and pre-departure orientations as
assigned by the Program Director and/or Deputy Director;
� Ensure prompt and accurate collection and processing of all travel
documents, including visas, tickets, welcome packets and placement
information in coordination with PAS and ECA;
� Assist other CCR staff in responding to inquiries and requests from
ECA and PAS, as assigned by the Program Director and/or Deputy Director.
QUALIFICATIONS: The Junior Program Officer must be well organized, able to
work independently, skilled at handling multiple tasks, and able to adhere
to deadlines.
Other qualifications:
� Minimum of one year experience in the administration of an
international assistance program;
� Strong knowledge of English required;
� Excellent computer skills, preferably with experience in database
management;
� Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills;
� Excellent communication skills, both oral and written;
� Ability to travel within the Russian Federation on a frequent basis.
