Government

Institute for Biological Problems of the North

This environmental organization received the bulk of its support from the government in 1991, from ecotourism in 1992, from joint projects with Japanese colleagues in 1993, and has been left more or less empty-handed in 1994. The IBPN has worked to develop impact assessments and other biological reviews on the natural resources and wildlife habitats of the Russian northeast. Natalia is a leading proponent for creating an environmental information center in Magadan.

ECOnnections

This organization has partnered with the Magadan nature reserve, with other nature reserves in western Russia, and with the Institute for Biological Problems of the North-Natalia Proskurina, on issues of ecotourism, nature reserve management, and the creation of environmental information centers.

This group works extensively on issues of marine wildlife protection and ecotourism. Has excellent collaborative relationships with scientists in Alaska.

Kronotskii Nature Reserve/Magadanskii Nature Reserve

Both nature reserves are interested in the development of international ecotourism and national park exchange programs for their nature reserves. Magadan nature reserve now has an exchange program with the Chugach National Forest in Alaska.
