Accessing the Internet By E-Mail
If you have only an e-mail connection to the Internet, you can still access the World Wide Web,
and use other technologies such as FTP--by e-mail.
This document, by Gerald Boyd, a retired IBM mainframe systems
programmer by profession, and a part-time community college teacher, was
most recently revised in early 2002. It offers much more than the title
suggests. Be sure not to miss the last section, "A Few Net
Goodies."

sites that facilitate collaboration among members of a group or association
through the Internet are increasingly popular. One such site is My
eGroups. By paying an annual
fee of US$12.95, a member of My EGroups can "share information, schedule
events, post discussion items, take a group vote, or keep an updated contact
list." The service claims to be "extremely flexible and designed
to allow any type of group to collaborate and organize on-line!"
Specialized Search Engines Search engines which search in languages of the NIS, search specific topics (ie environment), and a Russian-English English-Russian translation program.
Russian Internet Search Engine Indexes only Russia and former Soviet related Internet resources. Search in English or one of four Russian fonts by word or phrase.
Int'l direct dial city/country telephone codes for the fSU and CEE Ever have a phone number for someone in the NIS, but didn't know what area or country codes to dial first?
