CEELI Legislative Fellowships
The Central and East European Law Initiative (CEELI) is a
public service project of the American Bar Association (ABA) designed
to advance the rule of law by supporting the law reform process
underway in Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.
Fellows will work in CEELI's Legislative Assistance and
Research program, conducting legislative analysis of draft laws from
CEE and the NIS. Fellows will organize and manage working groups of
judges, law professors, and attorneys to comment on the draft laws,
and then write the final analysis. Fellows will also write
comparative concept papers on legal issues of interest to the region.
Fellows must be law graduates, be highly motivated and able
to work independently, and possess both excellent interpersonal and
writing skills. An interest and experience in international affairs
is preferred.
Fellows will be hired on one-year contracts for $30,000 plus
ABA benefits, including paid vacation and administrative leave,
Federal holidays, and medical, dental, and vision care insurance.
Positions will begin in September or October of 2001, and will end
August 2002.
