TITLE: Senior Media Advisor, Kosovo Independent Media Project (KIMP)
REPORTS TO: Chief of Party, IREX/KIMP (Pristina, Kosovo)
POSITION LOCATION: Pristina, Kosovo
ABOUT IREX: IREX is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to the
advancement of knowledge. Central to its mission is the empowering of
individuals and institutions to participate meaningfully in civil society.
IREX administers programs between the United States and Eastern Europe, the
New Independent States (NIS), Asia, and the Near East. 
SUMMARY OF POSITION: IREX seeks applicants for the position of Senior Media
Advisor for the USAID-funded Kosovo Independent Media Project. The Senior
Media Advisor develops and implements journalism training and association
development activities under the supervision of the Chief of Party, as part
of a large project that provides training, consulting, and grants to develop
independent media in Kosovo. The position requires travel to other cities
within Kosovo and the region.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
*Develop Journalism training activities;
*Manage Kosovar journalism training staff, short-term trainers and
consultants;
*Recruit Western and CEE short-term trainers and consultants;
*Provide regular reporting on program activities;
* Provide training and consulting to independent media outlets and
Organizations on journalism.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must be well organized, able to work independently, skilled at
handling multiple tasks, able to adhere to deadlines, and willing to travel.
Specific qualifications include:
*Significant professional experience in journalism.
*Significant professional experience training or consulting in journalism,
preferably in Central or Southeastern Europe.
*Experience training or consulting on journalism issues.
*Experience working with USG funding agencies (USAID experience strongly
preferred).
*Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
*Solid understanding of political, economic, and social issues in Kosovo and
the Balkans.
*Knowledge of computers and relevant software (MS Office, Excel, etc.).
