TITLE: Trainer/Temporary Consultant
REPORTS TO: Academic Exchanges & Research Division Director, IREX/Washington
LOCATION: Various cities throughout the NIS
ABOUT IREX: IREX is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to the
advancement of knowledge. Central to its mission is the empowering of
individuals and institutions to participate meaningfully in civil society.
IREX administers programs between the United States and Eastern Europe, the
New Independent States (NIS), Asia, and the Near East.
SUMMARY OF POSITION: IREX seeks consultants to conduct trainings throughout
the NIS on a variety of professional topics. The trainings will consist of
1-2 day courses aimed at continuing the professional development of alumni,
all of whom have participated in academic, training, internship and/or
research programs in the US. Trainers will often be invited to circuit a
number of cities in the NIS offering the same course in each city, in order
to reach the broadest group of alumni. 
The trainings will be on topics that cut across disciplines and will
therefore be of interest to a wide variety of alumni. The topics include,
but are not limited to:

�	Attracting and Managing Volunteers

�	Business Communication
�	Business Ethics
�	Capital Campaigns
�	Competitive Benchmarking
�	Conduct In-Kind fundraising

�	Focus Group Management and Individual Survey/Interview Techniques
�	Getting the Most from Meetings
�	Grant Writing
�	Interactive Teaching Methods
�	Interpersonal Conflict Negotiation

QUALIFICATIONS: Both US and non-US individuals and organizations are
encouraged to apply. The successful applicant/organization should possess:
�	Substantial experience designing and providing interactive trainings
on one or more of the topics listed above;
�	Experience working with at least one of the following: NGOs,
international development agencies, institutes of higher education or action
groups in the New Independent States (NIS) and/or Eastern Europe;
�	Excellent public speaking skills;
�	Knowledge of Russian is preferred, but not required.
