POSITION LOCATION: Minsk, Belarus

PROJECT HARMONY BACKGROUND: Project Harmony, Inc. is a not for profit
organization founded on the belief that active citizenship and community
involvement strengthen the international community. Project Harmony
empowers individuals to create healthier communities through international
exchange and training programs. Its work grew out of the profound changes
between the United States and the former Soviet Union ( FSU ) and has
expanded to include constituents from other countries engaged in building
civil society and establishing new patterns of citizenship. Since Project
Harmony, Inc. was founded in March 1985, more than 10,000 individuals from
the US and FSU have participated in Project Harmony programs. Project
Harmony has 17 representative offices in the US, Russia, Ukraine, Armenia,
Georgia and Azerbaijan and currently works in four main areas: Professional
Development, Educational Programs, Internet Technology, and Community
Development.
SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Program Coordinator will recruit candidates for
the ECA-funded Community Connections Program for Belarus. The position
will involve extensive travel to conduct program outreach and recruitment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific responsibilities will include the following:
� Establishing temporary offices in recruitment regions;
� Hiring and training temporary local staff;
� Conducting outreach and recruitment for the program
in recruitment regions;
� Delivering informational presentations on the program to
potential applicants;
� Organizing and implementing selections process including
individual interviews;
� Developing alumni activities for returning
participants.
QUALIFICATIONS
The Program Coordinator must be well organized, able to
work independently, skilled at handling multiple tasks,
able to adhere to deadlines, and willing
to travel extensively within Belarus. Other specific
qualifications include at a minimum:
� A bachelor's degree or equivalent;
� Knowledge of the Russian language is highly
desirable;
� Professional and/or living experience in the region,
preferably in Belarus;
� Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills;
� Solid knowledge of regional political, economic and
social issues;
� Knowledge of computers and relevant software (MS
Office 97, Eudora ).
