  Hi there. My name is Nadia Olson and I am an MA student in 
International Development Studies at George Washington University.  I am 
in the process of conducting research on some of the problems that 
development practitioners might encounter when attempting to 
operationalize the concepts of social capital and civil society. The 
primary questions I am dealing with are how practitioners propose to 
increase stocks of social capital or encourage civic engagement within 
communities and what are some of the political implications of doing so? 
I hope to evaluate how practitioners go about mitigating negative 
consequences when attempting to encourage civic participation or 
strengthen community ties?
I would be very eager to either correspond wtih or interview  anyone who 
might be able to provide some background information and testimonial 
evidence for my research.
