Subject: Co-operational proposal, Ukraine
Dear Colleagues,
We have honour to represent the Institute of Municipal Democracy and
Human Rights, situated in the Ukraine, in the city of Odessa. The
Institute is composed of eight practicing lawyers and scientists,
among them are three deputies of the Odessa city council (the
detailed information on activity of Institute is placed on a site of
our founder, http://haaz.com.od.ua, as well as we would be glad to
answer any questions through e-mail).
Overall objective of creation of the Institute was assistance to
construction of a legal state and a civil society.
Preparation of the draft laws is the part of our activity, as well as
we prepare and publish in Ukrainian media our expert opinions on
constitutional issues--electoral system, checks and balances etc. Our
activity in this direction would be considerably more effective in
case of presence of stable intellectual and creative connections with
colleagues abroad, i.e. with institutes, centres and scientists.
In this connection, we would like to establish such connections with
you, too. Ukrainian people are only building their own democratic
state, and your opinions and informational support could impact this
process greatly. We hope that you could give your opinions and answer
possible questions on issues, which would arise in our activity--as
well as we could provide you with our opinions on Ukrainian law and
politics.
It would be very important for us to have an opportunity to discuss
with you projects related to legal reform in the Ukraine, because we
really need it.
Please inform us about your attitude to this proposal and your
possible questions.
Yours faithfully,
Alexander Muchnik, the president of Institute
