ABOUT IREX:

programs between the United States and the countries of Eastern Europe, the
New Independent States, Asia, and the Near East.  IREX fosters excellence in
services to internal and external customers and encourages all staff to
continuously improve the systems and processes that are essential to our
work.
SUMMARY OF POSITION: 
IREX seeks applicants for the position of Resident Advisor for Print Media.
ProMedia is a USAID funded project operating throughout Bosnia and
Herzegovina and headquartered in Sarajevo.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibilities include the following:
�	Oversee services provided to a variety of print media that have
applied to IREX for training, grants, or business consulting
�	Manage selection of new outlets that have applied for assistance
�	Manage local staff that assist with project management and training
�	Oversee selection of short-term expatriate and local consultants 
�	Be able to identify the needs of each print media outlet, on both
the journalism and commercial sides
�	Be able to conduct training in all or most of the following:
quality journalism, management, finance training, sales, marketing, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will have many, if not all, of the following
qualifications:
�	Good reporting and editing credentials and the ability to teach and
tutor effectively 
�	Solid background in journalism ethics 
�	Management experience a plus 
�	Advertising/sales experience desirable 
�	Knowledge of media law, in a general way; laws vary from country to
country 
�	Sufficient knowledge of production and publishing hardware to
evaluate proposals from print media outlets applying for assistance
�	International experience would be desirable, as would any facility
with local (Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian) language
