TITLE: Senior Program Officer, IREX/Media Development Division
REPORTS TO: Director, Media Development Division
POSITION LOCATION: Washington, DC
ABOUT IREX: IREX is a US-based nonprofit organization committed to
international education in its broadest sense. IREX's efforts encompass
academic research, professional training, institution building, technical
assistance, and policy programs between the United States and the countries
of Eastern Europe, the New Independent States, Asia, and the Near East.

are essential to our work.
SUMMARY OF POSITION: IREX seeks applications for the position of Senior
Program Officer.  The successful candidate will manage a multi-million
dollar portfolio of USAID-funded media development programs in southeast
Europe and a regional project for Europe and Eurasia. 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Oversight of project implementation in Field
* Management of field and DC project staff
* Budget monitoring, analysis and compliance
* Recruitment of long and short term field advisers
* Design of regional project activities in consultation with IREX field and
DC staff
* Results reporting
* Client relations
* Strategic planning
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants should have 10 or more years of experience with a
combination of the following: prior USAID project management experience;
journalism experience; field management of media projects. Southeast
European or NIS experience/language preferred. Excellent
communication/presentation skills, both oral and written. US citizenship and
MA degree or equivalent experience required.
